The Perfectionism Workshop
Why it feels safe. Why it keeps you stuck. And how to soften it.

Perfectionism often feels like safety — until it quietly keeps you stuck.
Many people in eating disorder recovery describe themselves as:
High achieving
Driven
Hard on themselves
Never quite feeling good enough
This often gets labelled as “just my personality.”
Yet perfectionism is not who you are.
It is something you learned — a way of coping, staying safe, and feeling in control when things felt uncertain or overwhelming.
And while it once helped, it can now keep recovery feeling rigid, exhausting, and fragile.
About the workshop
In January, inside the Eating Disorder Recovery Circle, I’m running a live 90-minute workshop exploring perfectionism and its deep connection with eating disorders.
Together, we will explore:
• Where perfectionism actually comes from
• Why it feels like safety, structure, and control
• How it fuels restriction, overthinking, rigidity, and burnout
• Why “trying harder” never brings peace
• How perfectionism blocks recovery and self-compassion
• What it looks like to live from values instead of impossible standards
This is not intellectual work alone.
It is reflective, grounding, and designed to help you feel what changes when pressure begins to ease.
What this workshop is — and what it isn’t
This workshop is not about becoming careless.
It is not about lowering standards or losing motivation.
It is about releasing the constant inner pressure that keeps you braced, alert, and exhausted — even when you’re doing “everything right.”
Softening perfectionism does not make recovery weaker.
It often makes it possible.
What you may notice afterwards
People often leave this work with:
• A clearer understanding of why perfectionism feels so convincing
• Less inner criticism and urgency
• More flexibility around recovery choices
• A growing sense of self-compassion
• Relief from the feeling that nothing is ever enough
Change here is often subtle — and deeply meaningful.
